This year, Belgium plans to offer a new financial package to Ukraine totaling 1 billion euros, with a commitment to allocate the same amount annually for military assistance.
This was announced by Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever during a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv, as reported by the Ukrinform correspondent.

“I am pleased to be here and announce that our new government has decided to continue our humanitarian assistance.”
“Our Foreign Minister Maxim Prevo is here, as well as our Defense Minister, who proudly announced a new aid package of 1 billion euros for 2025, with the ambition to provide at least 1 billion euros in bilateral military assistance each year during my term. Our ministry has a number of initiatives planned soon,” said the Prime Minister.
De Wever also highlighted significant interest in establishing Belgian defense production in Ukraine, announcing the signing of 4 relevant contracts.
“We must help Ukraine build its defense capabilities, as well as rearm Europe against new aggression from Russia.”
“I think we should collaborate to see how our private sector can be interested in investing in Ukraine and building opportunities for our defense industry,” emphasized the Prime Minister.
Belgian delegation in Kyiv: Prime Minister and Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Defense arrive
On April 8, a delegation from Belgium arrived in the capital of Ukraine, led by Prime Minister Bart De Wever.
The delegation also included Foreign Minister Maxim Prevo and Defense Minister Theo Francken.
Since the beginning of the large-scale war, Belgium has provided Ukraine with assistance totaling over 2.2 billion euros, making it one of the 20 largest donors in the world based on per capita aid.
