Ukraine has officially expanded its consular presence in the United States by inaugurating an honorary consulate in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The new honorary consul, Karl Algren, is a well-known American volunteer and advocate for Ukraine's interests. This announcement was made by Ukraine's Ambassador to the USA, Olha Stefanishyna, on Facebook.
During the official ceremony, the Ambassador presented Karl Algren with the consular patent. The parties also signed an agreement on consular functions and responsibilities.
Karl Algren is recognized as the founder of the Ukraine Action Plan organization and is celebrated for his advocacy and humanitarian work supporting Ukraine in the USA.
Ambassador Stefanishyna emphasized that the activities of the newly established consulate in Tulsa will go beyond providing consular assistance to Ukrainian citizens.
“The opening of the Honorary Consulate in Tulsa will not only enhance the provision of consular services to Ukrainian citizens but will also foster the building of sister city relations between regions of Ukraine and the state of Oklahoma, facilitate public diplomacy projects, and promote the unity of the Ukrainian community,” she underscored.
In welcoming Karl Algren to his new role as honorary consul, Ambassador Stefanishyna noted that there are currently 11 honorary consulates of Ukraine operating in the United States.
Irina Podiryako, President of the Franco-Ukrainian Association of the French Riviera, has been appointed as Ukraine's honorary consul in Nice.
