Kyivstar, the largest mobile operator in Ukraine, is preparing to invest in Comfy, the country's top electronics and home appliance retailer founded by Stanislav Ronis.
As reported by Forbes Ukraine, the deal is nearing closure and an announcement could be made shortly.
The company intends to leverage this investment as part of its strategy to transform into a digital enterprise, with plans for marketplace development and synergy with its other assets.
A former executive from a major e-commerce player noted that the deal could have been agreed upon earlier this year, with an anonymous investment banker confirming that an announcement is expected soon.
The Antimonopoly Committee stated that as of December 30, they had not received any applications from Kyivstar regarding acquisitions.
In its response, Comfy did not confirm or deny the deal but mentioned analyzing investment opportunities and partnerships while emphasizing their long-term business growth strategy and intention to maintain control.
According to sources from the investment market, Kyivstar is looking to acquire about 10% of the shares, mainly from management, while Stanislav Ronis will retain control.
Deal estimates vary, but experts suggest Comfy could be valued over $300 million.
Market analysts indicate that the retailer's price could range from 4-7 EBITDA, aligning with European company standards.
Since its listing on Nasdaq, Kyivstar has shown significant capital growth despite challenges posed by the war and geopolitical factors. The company aims to evolve from a telecom operator to a digital services provider.
Kyivstar is also considering investing in GigaCloud, a leading cloud solutions provider, intending to acquire 80% of its shares.
In the first half of 2025, Kyivstar's revenue increased by 36.1% compared to the previous year, affirming the company's resilience in a challenging market environment.
