In Maiduguri, Nigeria, a devastating explosion took place during evening prayers, attributed to a suicide bomber. At least five people have died, and around 35 others were injured. This information was reported by Reuters.
The blast occurred at the Al-Adum mosque around 6 PM local time, as worshippers gathered for the evening service.
Authorities are currently conducting a demining operation at the site.
The governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum, condemned the attack as «barbaric and inhumane» and called for increased vigilance in public spaces during festive periods.
So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
In northeastern Nigeria, Islamist militants such as "Boko Haram" and ISWAP have been terrorizing civilians, mosques, and markets for the past 15 years.
