Starting April 8, a new border crossing point “Great Palad-Nodyhodosh” will commence operations at the border between Ukraine and Hungary, reports Ukrinform citing the Transcarpathian customs data.
New border crossing opens on April 8
The inauguration of the international crossing “Great Palad-Nodyhodosh” will take place with the participation of high-ranking officials from Ukraine and Hungary, as announced by the Hungarian Consul General József Bacskai during a meeting with the acting head of the Transcarpathian customs, Illya Nizhnykov.
According to the diplomat, the functioning of this crossing point will revitalize cross-border and cultural ties and will positively impact Ukraine's Eurointegration.
On his part, Nizhnykov informed the head of the Hungarian Consulate that the customs service has implemented a systematic and comprehensive approach to combatting smuggling and corruption.
Discussions also included the launch of an industrial park in the village of Batyovo and Batrad, where large-scale production of plywood, wooden boards, panels, and veneers will soon commence, with subsequent export of products to EU countries via Hungary. This is expected to increase traffic at the automotive crossing points designated for freight transport.
Nizhnykov also noted that thanks to the Memorandum signed between the State Customs Service of Ukraine and the Hungarian Customs and Financial Guard regarding the implementation of an Early Warning System for emergencies at the Ukrainian-Hungarian border, all crossing points in this area operate smoothly and rhythmically.
At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to communicate actively, respond promptly to issues, and seek solutions.
