A new memorial has been established in Irpin, symbolizing the resilience against enemy forces. This architectural piece illustrates how the residents of Borodyanka, Irpin, and Hostomel resisted the aggressors.
The architects from UVT Group, led by Oleksiy Agafonov along with Andriy AUM and Agafonov developed this unique structure.
It takes the form of a multi-layered metal shield, representing the indomitable spirit of the people.
While working on the restoration of Bahirowa Street and Hostomel Highway, the team felt that the city needed more than just new roads and buildings, but a symbol of its past struggles.
The team commented: «We felt compelled to create a memorial that symbolizes the resistance of indomitable people».
Thus, the idea for the memorial emerged - a shield that represents how the residents of Borodyanka, Irpin, and Hostomel resisted the enemy's advances.
This initiative received support from the Kyiv Regional State Administration headed by Yaroslav Yanovych and the Irpin City Military Administration.
