The series production of new interceptor drones named ‘Octopus’ has been initiated in Ukraine. Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this at an official press conference.
According to him, the technological solutions have already been transferred to several manufacturers, with another eleven companies preparing to launch production lines.
‘Octopus is the result of Ukrainian scientific developments, successfully tested in battle. These drones can operate at night, under jamming conditions, and at low altitudes. We are starting series production to ensure the protection of our airspace,’ emphasized the minister.
Denys Shmyhal also mentioned that the Ministry of Defense is actively collaborating with Ukrainian manufacturers, creating conditions for the rapid implementation of cutting-edge technologies in the military sector.
Recall that at the end of October, President Volodymyr Zelensky presented the interceptor drone ‘Octopus’ during his visit to the United Kingdom.
According to the President's Office, the UK will produce these drones for further testing in Ukraine. After testing, the UK is ready to scale production both domestically and in Ukraine.
Recently, Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukraine has begun joint production of interceptor drones with the USA. While details on the production volumes have not been disclosed, the president previously indicated that the country aims to reach a production rate of 500-800 drones per day by November.
