During the 30th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP30) held in Brazil, Ukraine showcased a pavilion titled «Time Capsule». This pavilion highlighted the environmental consequences of war and Ukraine's achievements in climate policy. The Ministry of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture of Ukraine announced this.
In the city of Belém, the 30th UN Climate Conference commenced, where Ukraine emphasized the massive damage caused by the war, including the destruction of over 3 million hectares of forest and environmental damage amounting to nearly 6 trillion hryvnias.
The Ukrainian delegation urged the UN to rectify documents from the Russian Federation that unlawfully include occupied Ukrainian territories and presented an updated Nationally Determined Contribution. The «Time Capsule» pavilion combined themes of food security, environmental protection, energy independence, and post-war recovery. Symbolic elements such as damaged fields, devastated forests, and the digital project Winds of Freedom illustrate the processes of destruction and restoration.
Even amidst war, Ukraine remains a reliable partner in combating climate change, stated Minister Oleksiy Sobolev.
The pavilion has become the voice of an unyielding nation, demonstrating to the world the path to sustainable recovery.
