Tragedy in the Skies: Military Deaths in Georgia

A plane crash in Georgia resulted in the deaths of 20 military personnel. Investigations are ongoing.

On November 11, 2025, a tragic plane crash in Georgia claimed the lives of all 20 military personnel aboard a C-130 military transport aircraft returning from Azerbaijan. Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Guler confirmed the incident, stating that the aircraft crashed near the Georgia-Azerbaijan border.
Following reports of the crash, search and rescue teams from both Georgia and Turkey were dispatched to the area. Investigators are currently looking into whether violations of safety regulations or operational rules contributed to the disaster.
The aircraft fell in the Sighnaghi region, approximately 5 kilometers from the border. According to air traffic control reports, the plane disappeared from radar without issuing a distress signal. The C-130 is manufactured by Lockheed Martin.
The military transport plane was carrying 20 servicemen returning to Turkey.
