The Save Ukraine team successfully rescued 8 Ukrainian children and teenagers from temporarily occupied territories, announced Mykola Kuleba, the founder and executive director of the organization.
“We are grateful to Volodymyr Klitschko, Tetiana Kil from We Are All Ukrainians, the Humanity Foundation, and the Coordinated Search and Release Center for making this mission possible,” said Kuleba. “These children have gone through fear and humiliation, and today they are finally safe. They can be children again, breathe freely, and feel love around them.”
Among those rescued:
- 11-year-old David, who had not left his home for nearly 4 years to avoid being noticed by locals. He studied online under the Ukrainian curriculum, while his mother feared they would be forced to send him to a Russian school.
- 18-year-old Matviy, who, along with his older brother, was pressured by local collaborators to register for military service. They were threatened with fines and deportation if they did not report to the military enlistment office.
- 17-year-old Vsevolod and 15-year-old Eva, who faced constant humiliation at a Russian school. Their parents were repeatedly fined for their absences.
- 21-year-old Myroslav, who endured a search and threats in his own home. Occupiers suspected him of collaborating with Ukrainian forces and tortured him to extract confessions.
According to Mykola Kuleba, all rescued children are now safe. At the “Hope and Recovery” centers, they receive psychological support, help with documentation, and care—everything needed to feel like children again. He also reminded that thanks to Save Ukraine, over 900 children have been rescued from Russia and occupied territories, but thousands are still waiting for assistance.
