Due to the implementation of the new digital Entry/Exit System (EES), there may be delays at the border crossings of "Yahodyn - Dorohusk" and "Ustyluh - Zosin". This was reported by the State Customs Service of Ukraine.
Starting from November 3, all travelers crossing the border at these points must register at a self-service terminal or with border guards.
This process involves passport scanning and the collection of biometric data: taking a photo and fingerprints. Children under 12 are not required to provide fingerprints. For subsequent entries, biometric data will be verified against existing Schengen information.
The border guards also emphasized that the initial implementation of the system may lead to longer control procedures.
"We recommend planning trips with extra time or choosing alternative crossing points," they added.
It is worth noting that on October 27, delays were already observed at the border crossings of "Nyzhankovychy - Malkhovice", "Smilnytsia - Kroscienko", and "Hrushev - Budomez" due to the launch of the EES. Since October 28, this system has been operational at all border crossings on the Ukrainian-Hungarian border, which involves the collection of biometric data from citizens of third countries.
