Recently, a tragic event unfolded at the Kyiv reservoir in the Vyshhorod district during a fishing trip. According to the State Emergency Service of Kyiv region, despite storm warnings and strong winds, two men set out on the water in a boat.
Due to gusts of wind, the boat capsized, and both men found themselves in the cold water approximately 50 meters from the shore.
A woman walking her dog nearby heard their cries for help and immediately called emergency services.
Rescuers from the 36th State Fire and Rescue Unit of Irpin and divers from the Special Rescue Team quickly arrived at the scene.
One of the fishermen was located and brought to shore — he survived thanks to wearing a life jacket.
Unfortunately, the second fisherman could not be found immediately. Search operations continued in the morning due to strong winds and darkness.
On October 31, divers from the State Emergency Service discovered and recovered the body of a man born in 1978.
It is worth noting that starting from November 1, a ban on fishing is in effect in the waters of Kyiv and the surrounding region, which applies to all water bodies in Ukraine, including the Dnipro, Ros and others.
