Ukraine has proposed joint initiatives with Romania in the fields of air defense, maritime drones, artillery, and other types of military equipment.
The Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Serhiy Boyev, visited Romania to discuss opportunities for military-technical cooperation.
According to the Ministry of Defense, the primary goal of the visit was to engage with Romanian Defense Minister Liviu-Ionel Moșteanu on the development of military-technical collaboration and to strengthen bilateral defense partnerships.
The parties considered steps to expand cooperation in the defense industry, joint military research and innovation projects, as well as training programs and interactions between the armed forces of both countries.
They also discussed possibilities for joint production of ammunition and FPV drones, emphasizing the importance of implementing joint projects in air defense, maritime drones, artillery, and other weaponry.
They agreed on further dialogues to finalize these projects before the deadline for funding applications under the SAFE initiative.
“Romania remains committed to supporting Ukraine. We are interested in increasing regional production capabilities and modernizing the defense industry through joint projects,” emphasized Romanian Defense Minister Liviu-Ionel Moșteanu.
The parties also agreed to enhance contacts at the technical and institutional levels, as well as to organize regular bilateral meetings dedicated to defense industry topics.
In September, it was announced that Romania plans to produce defense drones together with Ukraine.
