Maxim Timchenko, the CEO of DTEK, held a meeting with Germany's Federal Minister of Economics and Energy, Katarina Reich, at one of the company's thermal power plants. Timchenko shared this on LinkedIn.
“It was a pleasure to showcase to Minister Reich our efforts in protecting and restoring the energy system of Ukraine at one of our thermal power plants,” Timchenko stated.
According to him, the electricity produced by these plants plays a crucial role in countering Russia's attempts to plunge Ukraine into darkness this winter.
Timchenko emphasized that October has been one of the toughest months for Ukraine's energy system: despite the heating season not yet starting, Russian strikes have systematically targeted generation, networks, as well as gas extraction and storage facilities.
“Despite the heating season in Ukraine not having commenced, the Russian attacks in October were particularly intense. The strikes systematically targeted generation facilities, network infrastructure, and gas extraction and storage sites,” the CEO of DTEK remarked.
He reported that DTEK, alongside the government and the energy sector, is working around the clock to ensure a steady electricity supply.
Timchenko thanked Minister Reich and German energy companies for their support in restoring Ukraine's energy infrastructure. He expressed confidence that through joint efforts, Ukraine and its allies will overcome the energy terror posed by the aggressor.
“By uniting with our European and American allies, we will overcome the energy terror from Russia and navigate the challenging months ahead,” Timchenko concluded.
Earlier, it was reported that within a week, DTEK's energy workers restored electricity to 184,000 families whose homes had been without light due to shelling.
