The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has unveiled a groundbreaking development in military gear — bulletproof vests that enable soldiers to remain buoyant in water even when fully equipped. This was announced in an official release from the MoD.
These vests feature a modular system that includes a component designed to provide positive buoyancy for operations conducted on water, developed and approved by the Central Material Support Department.
Upon contact with water, the vest transforms into a flotation device, allowing the soldier to remain on the surface while carrying all their gear, personal protective equipment, weaponry, and ammunition. This significantly reduces risks during missions at sea or when crossing water obstacles.
Notably, these vests are utilized by the Naval Forces and special operations units executing tasks in coastal and aquatic environments.
Additionally, it has been reported that the Ministry of Defense is establishing standards for quality control of defense procurement in line with NATO requirements. This will set unified qualification standards for professionals in charge of defense acquisitions, enabling an assessment of their qualifications.
