Ukraine is preparing to introduce new electronic medical certificates in 2026, which will be required for adoption and obtaining driver's licenses.
This was announced by the director of the electronic health system development department of the National Health Service of Ukraine, Dmytro Chernysh, during the eHealth Day event at the Public Health exhibition.
“We are getting ready to launch new electronic medical certificates – for adoption and for drivers. These documents are crucial, and we need to transition them into a digital format to simplify processes and enhance transparency,” Chernysh noted.
According to him, work on these services is ongoing, and implementing electronic medical certificates requires legislative changes in relevant regulations and laws.
This year, the next phase of electronic services in the field of rehabilitation is also planned, focusing on electronic prescriptions for assistive devices for patients.
“Previously, this data was processed on paper, but now it will be automatically transmitted to the Ministry of Social Policy, allowing patients to receive necessary devices more quickly,” Chernysh added.
Starting in 2026, Ukraine will launch a preventive medical examination program for individuals aged 40 and over to detect dangerous diseases at early stages. Participants will be able to receive funding for examinations through the “Diia” application.
