Ukraine is set to sign an agreement with the United States for the transfer of technology to create combat drones that have been «tested in real combat conditions». According to the Wall Street Journal, this is a significant step in the collaboration between the two nations.
Sources indicate that in exchange for this technology, Ukraine will receive «royalties or other forms of compensation».
Ukraine's primary advantage in this deal is its extensive experience in mass-producing affordable drones that have proven their effectiveness in combat. While American firms «produce complex drones», Ukrainians specialize in «mass-producing affordable» UAVs.
A group of Ukrainian experts, led by Deputy Minister of Defense Serhiy Boyev, has already begun «multiday negotiations» in Washington with Pentagon and State Department representatives.
A U.S. government official noted that finalizing the detailed agreement, which could be worth billions of dollars, «will likely take months».
