Vietnam has mobilized around 100,000 military personnel to evacuate 250,000 individuals due to the impending Typhoon «Bualoy», which is gaining strength and threatening the nation. This was reported by Al Jazeera.
Typhoon «Bualoy» is the tenth storm in Vietnam this year, currently located at sea with winds reaching up to 130 km/h. Meteorologists predict it will make landfall late on Sunday, September 28.
«This fast-moving storm is traveling nearly twice as fast as average, possesses high intensity, and has a wide area of impact. It could trigger several natural disasters simultaneously, including strong winds, heavy rain, flooding, flash floods, landslides, and coastal inundation,» meteorologists stated.
Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has urged a «maximum level of preparedness» as the typhoon approaches the country's territorial waters.
In Da Nang, the largest city in central Vietnam, over 210,000 residents have been evacuated. In the coastal area of Hue, an additional 32,000 people are being relocated to safer places.
In Ha Tinh province, a key steel manufacturing hub, plans are underway to evacuate more than 15,000 residents to schools and medical centers converted into temporary shelters.
According to VN Express, local authorities have mobilized over 200 personnel, as well as trucks, stones, sand, and other materials to reinforce the coastline.
Four domestic airports have been closed, and all fishing vessels in the typhoon's path have been recalled to ports. Residents in coastal areas have been instructed to secure their boats.
On Friday, September 26, Typhoon «Bualoy» struck the Philippines, causing landslides and flooding. Local media report that 10 people died, and another 10 are missing.
