The eastern part of Taiwan has been hit by heavy rains brought on by Typhoon «Ragasa», resulting in at least 14 fatalities and 124 individuals reported missing.

Interior Minister Liu Shih-fan stated on Tuesday evening that the overflow of a barrier lake has damaged public facilities, and he ordered emergency services to carry out rescue operations, restore services, and provide assistance so residents of Hualien County can quickly return to their normal lives.
According to local media reports, the barrier lake area is expected to receive 700-800 millimeters of rain over the next four days.
