In the Lublin Voivodeship of Poland, military police have launched an operation in response to reports of possible rocket debris that might have been used to down a drone during a recent attack by Russia.
According to RMF24, investigations are underway in the town of Hojny, where remnants of a rocket are believed to be present. The military police will conduct a thorough site examination on Friday morning.
The investigation will be carried out by the Investigative Department of the military police in Lublin in collaboration with the forensic laboratory and under the supervision of the District Military Prosecutor's Office.
As reported, a local resident living less than 30 km from Lublin contacted the police after discovering suspicious objects in a field. Officers promptly arrived at the scene and called in military personnel.
It is noteworthy that on the night of September 9 to 10, during a massive Russian attack on Ukraine, Polish airspace was repeatedly violated by drones. They were shot down by Polish and allied aircraft. In the Lublin Voivodeship, a private house was damaged during the operation. According to Polish media, it may have been struck by a missile from an F-16 fighter jet targeting a drone. Other drones that were not shot down likely crashed after running out of fuel. In border areas adjacent to Ukraine, debris from 16 drones was found. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk reported that a total of 19 drones were recorded. Fighter jets were deployed to intercept them, but only four targets were successfully destroyed.
