September 17 marks Rescue Day in Ukraine.

This day is significant for all those working in emergency services, fire safety, and other specialized units. It is also celebrated by those who have contributed to the aftermath of emergencies, whether technological or natural, in protecting human life.

Rescue Day was established on September 12, 2008, by a decree from the President of Ukraine.

Andriy Danyk, the head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, congratulated his colleagues and veterans on this professional holiday.

He noted that firefighters, sapper units, divers, medics, dog handlers, psychologists, chemists, engineers, drivers, climbers, and aviation rescuers are all integral parts of the large family of the SES, saving thousands of lives daily and restoring faith in safety.

"Each of you demonstrates courage and high professionalism in extremely challenging conditions. Unfortunately, today, Russian forces cynically target units that save lives after massive shelling," emphasized Danyk.

According to him, "we suffer losses: destroyed equipment, injured and fallen comrades – this is our painful reality. The memory of those who gave their lives for others will forever remain in our hearts."

Danyk thanked the rescuers for their selflessness, bravery, and dedication, believing that good and truth will ultimately prevail.
