Beginning next year, fourth graders will have the opportunity to take a trial assessment in a new external evaluation format. This format will become mandatory for all primary school students starting in 2027.

This was reported by the Education.Ua portal based on the Ministry of Education and Science order No. 1152 dated August 15, 2025.

"The Ukrainian Center for Quality Assessment in Education (Tatiana Vakulenko) along with regional centers must: 1) conduct a trial of the assessment model in the format of external evaluations in primary schools in 2026; 2) prepare for the implementation of this system starting in 2027," the document states.

The order also outlines a plan for the trial implementation of the new external evaluation model in primary schools. A list of schools participating in the trial will be approved in February-March 2026.

A special educational platform will be developed for conducting the assessments. The trial in selected schools will take place in April-May 2026.
