During the VI International Film Festival «Svitlo», taking place from September 14 to 16 at the Ukrainian House in Kyiv, viewers will have the chance to choose their favorite in the «Audience Choice Award» category.

The organizers hope that the festival, which presents films «with meanings that endure», will inspire and motivate audiences, strengthening their belief in victory.

Festival president Konstantin Shapovalov emphasized that «Svitlo» is the first film festival of the season in Ukraine. The program includes national and international competitions in the following categories: feature films and short films (narrative, documentary, animation), as well as a special category for «social video».

«Those who come to the Ukrainian House will enjoy an aesthetic experience. The festival aims to promote bright moral values: Christian and human values, as this is bright cinema», Shapovalov highlighted.

According to the organizers, two feature films will be shown at the opening and closing of the festival, along with animated, narrative, and documentary short films and social videos. Filmmakers from Ukraine, the Netherlands, Germany, the USA, Colombia, and Moldova are participating in the festival.

Festival director Svitlana Tymoshenko noted: «The opening film is a Ukrainian sports drama «Pulse» about the famous Paralympic champion Oksana Boturchuk. The closing film is an interesting dramedy from the legendary French studio Gaumont titled «Life on Repeat».

Oksana Boturchuk, the athlete featured in the film, will be present at the opening to share her story with the audience.

Deputy director Svitlana Kryvych emphasized the special category for social video, noting that nowadays anyone can create a short film on their smartphone addressing important social issues.

The festival's motto «Meanings that Endure» provides young directors with opportunities for professional growth.

Head of the communications department Larysa Kotliakova added that audiences can look forward to a special feature: «...the screening of two animated works that will be interesting for both children and adults, which have already won accolades at the best festivals around the world».

The International Film Festival «Svitlo» was established in 2013 with the goal of inspiring Ukrainian artists to create deep and meaningful works.
