In Warsaw, an attack occurred on a group of Ukrainians near a store. The police confirmed that the motive was based on the victims' nationality.
This was reported by Raport Warszawski.
The incident took place last Thursday when three men assaulted a group of young Ukrainians. The attackers did not stop at insults - they violently beat the victims. A woman accompanying the victims called the police and recorded the entire incident on her phone. Investigators arrived, collected evidence, interviewed witnesses, and compiled descriptions of the perpetrators. One of the victims required medical assistance due to injuries sustained.
"The police immediately launched operations to identify and apprehend the attackers," emphasized Chief Superintendent Paulina Onyszko.
A recording made by a witness became key evidence. Investigators analyzed the video and identified the culprits. The next day, a patrol arrested a 41-year-old man. A few hours later, two more were arrested in Białolenka: a 28-year-old and a 36-year-old. During the search, officers found mephedrone, which the older suspect confessed to possessing.
All three men have been charged:
- The 41-year-old man will be held accountable for his role in the attack.
- The 28-year-old man has also been charged with causing bodily harm, insulting a person based on nationality, and threatening a witness.
- The 36-year-old man has been charged with assault, insult, and possession of drugs - his case is aggravated by recidivism.
The investigation is being carried out by the Prosecutor's Office of the Warsaw district of Praga-Południe. The court has placed the suspects under police supervision. Each of them is prohibited from contacting the victims and other co-defendants. Assault and insult based on nationality carry a penalty of up to five years in prison. Recidivists may face harsher penalties. It is noteworthy that earlier this year, two bodies were found in a hotel in the Polish city of Krakow, one of which was identified as a 58-year-old Ukrainian citizen who had been staying in that room for the past two years.
