The Ukrainian delegation held talks with US Special Representative Steve Witkoff during their visit to the United States.

According to "European Truth", this was reported by the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak on his X account.

Yermak noted that he spoke with Witkoff in New York, accompanied by the First Deputy Foreign Minister Serhiy Kyslytsia.

"Our main priority is to enhance diplomatic efforts and ensure the implementation of all agreements reached at the Washington summit. We are coordinating our efforts", — he stated.

The head of the Office mentioned that he informed the special representative about ongoing military crimes by Russia against Ukraine, including the recent massive attack on Kyiv that resulted in the deaths of 23 people.

He emphasized that Russia is not taking any steps that could lead to an end to the war and, on the contrary, is prolonging it.

"Ukraine welcomes all peace initiatives proposed by the United States. However, unfortunately, each of them is hindered by Russia. We are open to direct negotiations at the leaders' level and ready to discuss a broad range of issues. We are convinced that international pressure is needed for Russia to genuinely be willing to take steps toward peace, including holding a critically important meeting of leaders for this purpose", — Yermak noted.

He added that he invited Witkoff to visit Ukraine in the near future.

Recall that on August 22, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Vladimir Putin would meet with Volodymyr Zelensky only after preparing a "summit program", and currently, there are no such plans.

On August 29, the Kremlin reiterated that they do not oppose a meeting per se, but only after its preparation "at the expert level".

According to media reports, US President Donald Trump intends to leave it to Russia and Ukraine to organize a meeting between their leaders, thus temporarily distancing himself from negotiations.
