During the night in the Kirovohrad region, near the village of Khmelove, a horrific road accident took place, claiming the lives of six people, one of whom was a child, while another six individuals, including a child, were injured.

This was reported by the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Kirovohrad region via their Facebook page.

“The rescuers from Malovyskivska were providing assistance in eliminating the aftermath of a dreadful crash that occurred near the village of Khmelove. They extricated the bodies of six individuals from the wrecked vehicles, including one child. Another six individuals, among them a child, sustained injuries,” the message stated.

It was noted that all injured individuals were transported to medical facilities.

According to regional police, the accident happened around 2:00 AM on the M-30 highway Striy-Uman-Dnipro-Izvarine, between the villages of Rozsohuvatka and Khmelove.

Preliminary data indicates that a collision occurred between a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter minibus driven by a 2003-born driver and a MAN bus driven by a 1992-born driver.

A criminal investigation has been initiated regarding the traffic accident under part 3 of Article 286 (violation of traffic safety rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. Police are establishing all circumstances of the incident.
