The Ukrainian government has made a significant decision allowing women local councilors engaged in public service to cross the border without issues during martial law.

This was announced by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko on her Telegram channel.

According to her, this decision applies to all women councilors working on a volunteer basis: they can now freely exit the country to visit relatives or provide assistance to our military.

Svyrydenko stated that previously, women could not even take a legal leave, which severely restricted their volunteer activities and forced some to relinquish their mandates.

She emphasized that the new changes eliminate these barriers, as the government wants women councilors to remain active and continue developing their communities.

She also clarified that the changes concern councilors at all levels, except for those receiving a salary for their work in local government.

Earlier reports indicated that on August 26, the Cabinet of Ministers updated the rules for crossing the border. Men aged 18 to 22 can now also cross the border freely during martial law, with these changes taking effect the day after the official publication of the resolution.
