Ukraine and Sweden have reached an agreement for the joint production of defense technologies on their territories.

This announcement was made by Ukraine's Defense Minister, Denys Shmyhal, on social media.

On August 23, alongside his Swedish counterpart Paul Johnson, he signed a letter of intent that outlines the joint efforts in defense production, creating conditions for the implementation of collaborative projects in the military sector, and ensuring the sustainability of cooperation between Ukraine and Sweden.

The signing took place during Johnson's visit to Ukraine.

The document stipulates that both countries will continue to exchange technologies and expertise in weaponry production, enhancing the resilience and self-sufficiency of their defense industries.

Shmyhal expressed gratitude to the Swedish people and government for their unwavering support of Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression, particularly for their involvement in the PURL initiative and the allocation of $486 million jointly with Norway and Denmark, as well as for the transfer of reconnaissance and command aircraft.

During the meeting, the parties discussed military aviation cooperation, including pilot training and joint projects between Ukrainian and Swedish companies.

“Among our immediate cooperation prospects are innovations and the development of joint productions,” Shmyhal noted.

They also discussed enhancing collaboration in space technology.

Ukrainian intelligence representatives briefed their counterparts on the current battlefield situation and key needs of the defense forces.
