On Wednesday afternoon in Santa Maria di Sala, near Venice, a six-year-old Ukrainian boy tragically lost his life after being struck by a vehicle at a crosswalk.
According to Ansa, citing hospital sources, the boy died at the Padua hospital on Friday.
It has been reported that both the boy and his mother had protection status in Italy due to the war in their homeland, and they lived with other Ukrainian families in a former priest's residence.
Reports indicate that the child was thrown several meters by the impact and was in critical condition.
Sources revealed that yesterday, brain death was declared for the boy.
As previously reported, as of February 28, over 4.3 million people had received temporary protection in EU countries, including about 164,000 in Italy, due to the full-scale invasion of Russia.
