The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has facilitated the return of 65 Ukrainian citizens from the buffer zone on the Russian-Georgian border.

This was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andriy Sybiga.

Among those returned are 10 women, eight of whom are seriously ill. The Ministry emphasized that they had all been in the Georgian crossing point "Dariali" under conditions of a humanitarian crisis created by Russia's actions.

"Ukrainian diplomats and consuls made every effort to ensure the return of citizens and improve their conditions at the border, including with the involvement of international organizations," he noted.

Additionally, as the Ukrainian diplomat stated, on August 21-22, a successful repatriation of a large group of Ukrainians from Georgia via Moldova was carried out.

Sybiga reminded that in previous months, the Ministry had already organized the return of a total of 44 citizens. Thus, the overall number of Ukrainians returned from the "Dariali" crossing point in recent months reached 109 people.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in cooperation with the embassies of Ukraine in Georgia and Moldova, relevant Ukrainian authorities, and Georgian and Moldovan parties, continues to work on the return of remaining citizens who express a desire to be repatriated to Ukraine.

Since mid-June, Russia has significantly intensified the deportation of Ukrainian citizens through the border with Georgia, leading to a humanitarian crisis in the buffer zone of the "Dariali" crossing point, where some Ukrainians have declared hunger strikes.

The issue of Ukrainians stranded at the border between Russia and Georgia is periodically reported by human rights initiatives and the media.

At the beginning of August, the Ukrainian embassy in Georgia stated that they had taken measures to provide Ukrainian citizens who were stuck in the buffer zone at the Georgian border with food, essential items, and medical supplies.
