Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal and Canadian Ambassador Natalka Tsymok had a meeting to discuss the potential support for drone production in Ukraine.

Shmyhal expressed gratitude to Canada for its unwavering support since the beginning of the full-scale Russian aggression.

The parties focused on enhancing collaboration in the defense industry, as Canada is already involved in the «Danish model» – an effective mechanism for supporting Ukraine.

They also talked about new initiatives aimed at strengthening Ukrainian soldiers.

According to Shmyhal, Canada is preparing to contribute to the PURL initiative, which helps Ukraine obtain weapons and technologies from the USA. The possibility of supporting the production of Ukrainian long-range drones, which have already shown high effectiveness, was also discussed.

Additionally, the defense minister presented the Canadian side with the Defence City mechanism – a special legal framework for developing the defense ecosystem in Ukraine.

"Together with Canada, we are strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities and laying the foundation for lasting peace," emphasized Shmyhal.
