A massive power outage occurred in central and southern regions of Iraq, but the country is already taking steps towards recovery.

This information is reported by Reuters citing sources.

According to Reuters, sources within Iraq's Ministry of Electricity indicated that a sudden failure at the Hamidiya power station in the western province of Anbar caused a disruption in the power transmission network. Meanwhile, temperatures in Baghdad reached 47 degrees on Monday.

"Today, an emergency power outage occurred in transmission lines, leading to widespread blackouts in the national electricity grid," stated Deputy Minister of Electricity Production Mohammed Nehme.

The government added that relevant services have begun gradually restoring power supply, and it is expected to be fully restored within a few hours.

The head of the Iraqi parliamentary energy committee stated that the power outage did not affect the semi-autonomous region of Kurdistan.

Many Iraqis have relied on private generators for electricity over the years, as government-provided power has only been available intermittently. Some have turned to solar energy to meet their electricity needs.
