Security Service Prevents Terror Attack in Dnipro

The Security Service of Ukraine apprehended a Russian agent preparing a terror attack in Dnipro, averting a potential disaster.

The Security Service of Ukraine has successfully apprehended a woman who was plotting a terror attack in Dnipro. Thanks to counterintelligence efforts, a bombing near a law enforcement administrative building was averted.

The investigation revealed that the culprit, a 29-year-old from Vinnytsia, fell under the influence of Russian special services while seeking quick money online. After being recruited, she was sent to Pavlohrad, where she retrieved an explosive device from a cache. Her next mission was to conduct reconnaissance in Dnipro and prepare for the attack.

SSU agents acted swiftly, recovering the explosives and apprehending the agent as she attempted to flee the city. The arrest took place at a checkpoint while she was trying to board a bus to Odessa.

The woman has been charged with preparing a terrorist act under articles 14 and 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. She faces serious penalties, including a potential prison sentence of up to 12 years.

The Security Service also reminded of previous successful interventions, including the prevention of another terror act in Dnipropetrovsk region in July.
