On August 7, a new exhibition titled '"Our goal" will open at Squat 17b featuring the works of artist and serviceman Sashko Komyakhov.
The exhibition presents 50 graphic works by military officer Oleksandr Komyakhov at the Gallery of Protest Art of the Maidan Museum. This small display reveals numerous aspects of modern military life.
While serving in the Armed Forces, the leading artist of the Maidan Museum continues to work within military themes.
His sketches are not merely studio creations but are actual reports from the front lines. Sashko draws on location during combat trips, creating portraits, reports, and infographics, refining details later.
Most works collected for the exhibition were created before the author's mobilization.
“This is a series of historically-military prints titled 'Glory to Ukrainian Arms' for the authorial project Ukrainika, which started in 2015, currently on hold,” the organizers state.
Included are also prints from the 'Cats of the Armed Forces' project—a sticker pack featuring amusing cats for messaging apps (2022).
Among the exhibition items, visitors can see the print 'Dvizh'—the original polychrome linocut on the volunteer movement created by the author during service.
“Also displayed is the work 'Humvee/Tipping' and the emblem print 'Varyag Squad' for the unit where Anatoliy, a comrade of Sashko, serves. He is a significant inspiration for this exhibition, as all proceeds from print and merchandise sales will be sent to Anatoliy for the purchase of a Genium X4 microprocessor knee joint to return to service,” the exhibition organizers added.
They also highlighted the Ukrainika project, which provided items for the exhibition.
“The prints you can purchase at this exhibition were sent to the author at the front for personal signatures, making them a bit more special,” the announcement states.
The exhibition will run from August 7 to September 3. Curator: Nadiya Antonez.
The opening will take place on August 7 at 19:00
Where: Squat 17b (Tereshchenkivska, 17b).
