The Ukrainian government has implemented new initiatives to support drone operators serving in the armed forces, National Guard, and border service.
This was announced by Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal on his Telegram channel.
“Following the directive of President Volodymyr Zelensky, we are expanding the program for drone operators. The Cabinet of Ministers approved a new direction within the program — a contract for those who will serve in the Armed Forces, National Guard, and border services. The program specifies a clear service term of two years,” Shmyhal stated.
Future drone operators will undergo up to 45 days of basic training, up to 60 days of specialized training (considering already obtained certificates), and a 14-day adaptation course.
“As in the main program, there is a payment of 1 million UAH, which will be distributed in three stages. After completing their service, the defenders will receive additional support from the state, including a mortgage at 0%,” he noted.
Additionally, at the initiative of the Ministry of Defense, the government is submitting a bill to Parliament that provides for deferment for those who serve under the “Contract 18-24” program.
“Thus, all who voluntarily joined the military under contract will be entitled to a deferment for 12 months after reaching the age of 25,” Shmyhal emphasized.
Applications for the “Contract 18-24” can be submitted on the website: 18-24.army.gov.ua or through Reserve+.
