On Sunday evening in Germany, a tragic incident occurred when a passenger train derailed. Initial reports indicate that three people have died and 34 others have been injured.

Details of the accident: it took place in the federal state of Baden-Württemberg around 18:10 near the town of Riedlingen in the Biberach district. According to a spokesperson from the federal police in Stuttgart, two cars of a regional express train operated by Deutsche Bahn went off the tracks.

At the time of the derailment, approximately 100 passengers were on board.

At least three of them sustained injuries. The exact condition of the injured is currently unknown.

Rescue teams, including firefighters and paramedics, are working on the overturned train, attempting to reach the trapped passengers. Cries for help can be heard at the scene.

The train cars derailed in a wooded area and came to rest between trees on a slope. Some of the train is lying on its side, and the roof of one car is damaged. Rescue services are combing through the cars in search of victims, as it is likely that not all passengers have been accounted for.

The police report that access to the accident site is difficult. As of 19:30, numerous police, fire service, and medical personnel are on the scene providing assistance to the injured.

The rescue service has classified the situation as a "mass casualty incident," indicating that a large number of people require simultaneous medical assistance.

The causes of the derailment are currently being investigated.
