In recent years, Kyiv has implemented an elevator modernization program, resulting in the repair or complete replacement of 500 lifts. In 2023, 125 elevators are scheduled for updates. This was announced by Petro Panteleev, the deputy head of the Kyiv City State Administration, during an inspection of the works at a building on Pryrichna Street.

“Quality elevators are crucial for safety and reliability. We are not just replacing old lifts, but also modernizing them by installing new, energy-efficient models. Much of the equipment is imported from Italy, Turkey, and Germany, but Ukrainian components are also utilized,” Panteleev noted.

He emphasized that there are five support mechanisms for apartment buildings in Kyiv: the “Capital Repairs” program, the “70/30” competition, reimbursement for independent power sources, and others.

“The ‘Capital Repairs’ program, which has been in place since 2020, has already assisted residents of 899 buildings, including homeowners' associations,” he added.

According to Panteleev, the funding for energy-efficient measures is 70% from the city budget and 30% from residents, while for capital repairs of elevators, it is 95% and 5% respectively.

Since the launch of the “Capital Repairs” program, the city has allocated over 1.1 billion UAH for essential repairs, with residents contributing 93.4 million UAH.
