On June 26, Ukraine celebrates Crimean Tatar Flag Day.

This unofficial holiday was declared by the self-governing bodies of the Crimean Tatar people in 2010 and represents the unity of the people and their fight for freedom.

The Crimean Tatar flag is an important part of national symbolism. It features a blue field with a golden emblem in the upper left corner, signifying peace and unity.

The Crimean Tatars are the largest indigenous people of Crimea, with a history tied to the territory that is now part of Ukraine.

They lost their statehood in 1783 when the Russian Empire annexed Crimea.

National revival began after the February Revolution of 1917, when the national movement's activity led to the recognition of the blue flag as a national symbol.

At the first Kurultai of the Crimean Tatars in Bakhchisarai in December 1917, the flag was used, although its status was not formally defined at the time.

In 1919, documents were approved that established the blue flag as a national symbol.

After the establishment of the communist regime, the national flag was prohibited from being used publicly.

On June 30, 1991, the second Kurultai of the Crimean Tatars reaffirmed the blue flag as the national flag. Its proportions are 1:2.

Today, this flag symbolizes the struggle for the rights of the indigenous people of Crimea and the restoration of Ukraine's territorial integrity.

Refat Chubarov, head of the Mejlis, announced events for Crimean Tatar Flag Day to be held in Kyiv and other cities.

On June 26, Kyiv will host ceremonial flag-raising events in various locations, including at the Kyiv City State Administration and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

Additionally, events will take place in regional centers with the involvement of the Crimean Tatar community.

In the evening, open-air concerts and children's contests will be held at the Dovzhenko Film Studio in Kyiv, inviting everyone to attend.
