During the NATO summit in The Hague, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held discussions with US President Donald Trump.
Zelensky emphasized Trump's leadership in striving for a fair end to the war with Russia. He pointed out that Ukraine supports the US stance on a ceasefire, while Russia continues its aggression without any progress.
The President also shared insights from two rounds of talks with Russian representatives in Istanbul, which resulted only in the exchange of prisoners and the return of fallen soldiers' bodies. Zelensky noted that Russia also returned the bodies of its own troops, some of whom had passports.
He provided an update on the front line situation and the increase in Russian strikes on civilian infrastructure.
Zelensky and Trump discussed practical steps to strengthen the Ukrainian army and protect the lives of Ukrainians, specifically enhancing Ukraine's air defense. They agreed to continue this dialogue involving European partners.
The presidents also talked about the prospects for joint weapon production and electronic warfare capabilities.
The leaders paid attention to the situation surrounding Iran, noting that limiting Iran's ability to collaborate with other regimes would not only enhance security in the Middle East but also affect the peace efforts in Ukraine.
