All available bombs were dropped on the main site, Fordow. All crews are safely returning home."
Updated: According to The Wall Street Journal, citing three Iranian officials, the strike occurred around 2:30 AM local time.
The primary site – Fordow – is the most fortified nuclear complex in Iran, located deep underground. According to a US Department of Defense official, the attack on Fordow was carried out by B-2 strategic bombers, likely using specialized munitions capable of penetrating such fortifications.
According to Fox News, the US dropped six GBU-57 bombs on the nuclear site at Fordow. Additionally, 30 Tomahawk missiles were launched from Ohio-class submarines targeting nuclear facilities in Natanz and Isfahan.
Fordow was detected by Western intelligence agencies even before its official acknowledgment by Iran in 2009. For many years, Western experts believed that the site was too well protected for a conventional airstrike.
Natanz, another critical element of Iran's nuclear program, had already sustained damage from Israeli strikes on the site's energy infrastructure, which disabled all centrifuges in the underground hall at a depth of about 30 meters. However, experts believe the American airstrike could have inflicted significantly more damage.
