Consequences of Iran's Assault on Israel
Throughout the night, Israeli military warned of multiple waves of attacks.
According to the Israeli emergency service, one of the Iranian missiles struck a residential area in Rishon Lezion, south of Tel Aviv.
In Ramat Gan, near Tel Aviv, buildings were destroyed due to Iranian strikes.
Tel Aviv was also under fire.
As reported by Fox News, Iran targeted the headquarters of the Israeli Defense Forces.
"This is Israel's equivalent of the Pentagon – 'Kiryat'. The building in this complex has just been hit," noted a journalist during a live broadcast from Tel Aviv, as reported by Ukrinform.
The journalist stated that the assault caused significant damage.
Despite Israel's active use of air defense systems – 'Iron Dome', David's Sling, Arrow, Patriot, and THAAD – some Iranian missiles still reached their targets.
As a result of launching around 150 missiles from Iran, an entire neighborhood in Israel's capital was "almost completely destroyed," reported media sources.
Clash Report released a video showing one of the Iranian missiles hitting a skyscraper in downtown Tel Aviv.
Israel's Response to Iran
On the night of June 13, Israel struck back at Iran.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced the start of a large-scale military operation called "Rising Lion" (Am KeLavi).
The Israel Defense Forces referred to this as "preemptive strikes" aimed at Iran's nuclear program.
IDF deployed 200 fighter jets for the operation, targeting over a hundred sites. Explosions occurred, particularly around the Iranian uranium enrichment facility in Natanz and in the capital, Tehran.
Reports indicate that the attack resulted in the deaths of IRGC commander Hossein Salami, Chief of Staff Mohammad Bagheri, several other high-ranking IRGC officers, and nuclear scientists.
Iran labeled this an "announcement of war" and retaliated by launching over a hundred drones at Israel.
The USA claims no involvement in Israel's attacks on Iran. Secretary of State Marco Rubio emphasized that the strikes were unilateral, although the US had information about Israel's plans. Rubio highlighted that the primary priority for the US is to protect American forces in the region.
