On June 13, a tragic accident occurred in the French department of Sart, claiming the lives of four individuals and causing serious injuries to eleven passengers aboard a bus carrying Ukrainians.
The incident took place at 11:58 AM on the A81 motorway near the town of Degre, where the bus, carrying both adults and teenagers, overturned into a ditch between the Sille-le-Guillaume and Le Mans Nord interchanges.
According to preliminary reports, in addition to the four fatalities, 34 individuals sustained minor injuries, as stated by the prefecture.
The motorway was closed in both directions to facilitate rescue operations.
Emergency responders, including 87 firefighters with 49 vehicles from SDIS, arrived at the scene.
There is currently no additional information regarding the circumstances of the accident or the number of vehicles involved.
Prefect Emmanuel Aubry is overseeing the rescue operations and has established an operational command center. He urged vigilance in the area and advised against obstructing emergency services.
The Ukrainian Embassy in France reported that Ambassador Vadym Omelchenko and embassy staff were dispatched to the scene immediately.
"We are in constant communication with the prefecture and local services to provide assistance to the injured and clarify the circumstances," the embassy stated on Facebook.
