Even though the swimming season has not started in Kyiv for safety reasons, the water quality at the beaches remains satisfactory.
This was announced by the chief sanitary doctor of the capital, Serhiy Chumak, in an interview with "Ukrinform".
According to him, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention continues to monitor the water in recreation areas.
"We collect water samples and examine the sand on the beaches. If someone decides to swim, the water currently meets sanitary standards," Chumak noted.
On May 16, the Kyiv City Military Administration reported that the decision of the City Defense Council from May 17, 2023, remains in effect.
According to this decision, the swimming season in Kyiv is officially not open, and residents are advised against visiting beaches and areas with large gatherings of people near the water.
These restrictions are in place for safety reasons during martial law. A large number of people on the beaches during air alerts can complicate access to shelters.
