Today, June 7, a tragic incident occurred in the village of Zatoka within the Karolino-Buhaz community. 

Preliminary reports indicate that two men lost their lives due to an explosion of an unidentified object while swimming in the sea.

The identities of the deceased are currently being established.

At the scene, a police investigative team from the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskiy district, along with specialists from the explosive ordnance disposal unit of the National Police in the Odessa region, and State Emergency Service employees are working.

Full details of the incident are being determined, and a decision is being made regarding the entry of information into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations under paragraph 1 of part 2 of article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine marked as “accident”.

Police are urging residents and visitors of Odessa to strictly adhere to wartime regulations: do not access beach areas of the Black Sea coastline in Odessa region that are prohibited. Please prioritize safety measures and only relax on beaches that have been cleared by specialists for hazardous objects and approved for visits.
