In Ukraine's capital, volunteers have rescued a wild wolf that spent two years living in an apartment in a high-rise building. The owners had bought the sick animal online but later decided to surrender it to a shelter.

This was reported by the "Wildlife Rescue Center" and the bear sanctuary "White Rock".

According to activists, the residents of the capital purchased the wolf cub, which was suffering from illness. For the next two years, the sick predator lived within the walls of an apartment. Eventually, the owners decided to hand the animal over to a shelter.

At the scene, veterinarians sedated the wolf, and animal volunteers moved it into a specialized transport cage and delivered it to its new home.

"A long road to recovery lies ahead. The wolf is currently undergoing examination and adapting to new conditions. But the most important thing is that he is now safe, and we are confident he will be well taken care of," wrote the "Wildlife Rescue Center".

Specialists at the "White Rock" shelter reported that the wolf suffered a broken bone, for which a metal plate was installed in one of its legs. Additionally, the predator has other health issues, including a sick stomach and intestines.

"But he is incredible, and we are happy that the owners recognized their mistake and found a wonderful place for the wolf," added the shelter staff.

Previously in Donetsk region, rescuers saved a cat that had spent two days under the rubble of a high-rise building.
