On May 23, we celebrate Marine Corps Day, honoring the heroism and bravery of Ukrainian marines.

Greetings on Marine Corps Day

The leadership of the Ukrainian Navy, including Oleksiy Neizhpapa and Oleksandr Syrskiy, has joined in the celebrations.

General Syrskiy emphasized in his speech: “107 years ago, the first Marine Brigade was established in Ukraine. This branch of the military has always been at the forefront of defending our homeland.”

He recalled how marines stood firm in critical moments, particularly in Mariupol and on Snake Island.

“We are a maritime nation, and this defines our strength and character in the fight for freedom,” he highlighted.

Syrskiy also honored the memory of fallen heroes and expressed gratitude to those who continue to defend our land, urging unity and victory.

Greetings from the Main Intelligence Directorate

The GUR also expressed support for the marines guarding our shores and ports.

They emphasized that these soldiers symbolize courage and resilience in the fight against the enemy, unceasingly protecting our country.

“Eternal glory to those who gave their lives for Ukraine. We remember each of them,” the greeting stated.

Message from the Navy Commander

The Commander of the Navy addressed the marines, underscoring their indispensable role in Ukraine's military forces.

“Your courage and strength will always be remembered!” he concluded.

What to Know About Marine Corps Day

Marine Corps Day is celebrated annually on May 23, starting from 2018, when the president's decree was established for its observance.

This day symbolizes the first oath taken by marines in 1992, pledging allegiance to Ukraine.
