On the night of Friday, December 26, Kyiv was hit by a snowstorm, marking the onset of winter.
This was reported by the KCSA.
Currently, the city is working to clear the aftermath of the snowfall. According to the KCSA, 182 units of specialized equipment from "Kyivavtodor" have been operating throughout the city since the night.
The priority is to clear snow from main roads, bridges, slopes, and access points to public transport stops and pedestrian crossings.
Additionally, 122 workers are engaged in 23 manual cleaning crews. Road workers are clearing snow from stops, narrow sidewalks, stairs, and other areas where small snow clearing equipment cannot operate.
On the adjacent territories, snow removal is handled by property management company employees.
In parks and squares, landscape workers are involved: 43 units of equipment and 673 employees are engaged.
According to forecasts, on December 26, icy conditions, wind gusts of 15-20 m/s, and snowstorms are expected on the roads.
"We urge drivers to be extremely cautious on the roads and maintain a safe distance. Pedestrians should also be careful and remember to wear reflectors in the dark," the KCSA added.
Weather Forecast for Ukraine Today
According to meteorologist forecasts for Friday, December 26, the weather across Ukraine will be genuinely winter-like.
During the day, snow is expected across Ukraine (except for the far west), leading to icy conditions on the roads.
Meanwhile, the temperature will change due to increasing cloudiness, slightly easing the frost.
The expected nighttime temperatures in Ukraine will range from -4 to -9 degrees Celsius, with temperatures in the Carpathians dropping to -13 degrees.
Daily maximums across the country will reach -0 to -5 degrees Celsius.
Earlier, the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center reported that a real winter cold snap is approaching Ukraine.
Consequently, ice phenomena that can pose a danger are expected to appear and intensify on rivers and shallow areas of reservoirs.
