On April 2, Ukraine officially closed its last medical and social expert commission (MSEC) located in the Cherkasy region.

This was announced by the head of the Cherkasy regional military administration, Ihor Taburets.

"Finally, the deputies have put an end to the MSEC saga. They supported the project developed by our administration, which we proposed from the very beginning.

This communal institution will merge with the regional information-analytical center of medical statistics, transferring all archives", - stated Ihor Taburets.

The bill for the final closure of MSEC was supported by the Verkhovna Rada on December 19, 2024. The explanatory note indicated that the MSEC system does not meet "modern challenges" faced by Ukraine during the war, and "current approaches to determining disability". Instead, it was proposed to create expert teams of doctors.

As a result, from the beginning of 2025, MSEC operations were phased out in every region. However, in Cherkasy, regional council deputies failed to pass this vote three times due to a lack of quorum, as reported by Suspilne. Cherkasy.

Nevertheless, the reform continued since January, as expert teams of doctors began to be established in the region to replace MSEC.
