On the eve of Education Workers' Day, celebrated in Ukraine on October 5th, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko shared photos and information about presenting nearly 70 awards to the best educators in the capital. These awards were also given to those defending Ukraine.
According to Klitschko, the educational community in Kyiv consists of about 65 thousand workers, ensuring the operation of over a thousand educational institutions.
In September this year, nearly 365 thousand students and pupils returned to the capital's educational establishments.
Klitschko noted that for the fourth consecutive year, educators continue to provide knowledge to children amidst the war, maintaining the educational front 24/7. They teach, clean, feed, ensure the functioning of educational institutions, and take care of the safety and lives of children.
“Almost 500 education workers from Kyiv are currently defending Ukraine on the front lines. Sadly, 34 educators have given their lives for Ukraine's independence, and 12 are considered missing,” Klitschko shared.
Additionally, nearly 2,300 workers from temporarily occupied territories have been employed in Kyiv's educational institutions, with about 1,500 being teachers. The city has always supported educators and will continue to do so despite the daily challenges of wartime. Education in the capital not only functions but also develops.
“Wishing you strength, the realization of your plans, and grateful students, dear educators!” Klitschko addressed the educators on behalf of the community.
