The capital city has been supplied with new inflatable double mattresses, providing 2,160 sleeping places, along with approximately 100 electric and manual pumps for inflation. This initiative was made possible through the «Mattresses for Shelters» campaign initiated by Belgian activist Alain Marliere.

This was announced by Valentyn Mondryiivskyi, Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration and a member of the Kyiv City Council from the «UDAR» faction.

French company INTEX contributed by supplying the mattresses, along with assistance from Mr. Lacroix, president of the Louhans Bresse Bourguignonne Rotary Club, and B&B Logistik from Luxembourg, responsible for transportation logistics. Part of the transportation costs was funded by Mr. Braun, the company’s director, while European Rotary Clubs covered the remaining expenses.

The Kyiv City State Administration managed the reception and distribution of the aid, which will be directed to shelters to improve the living conditions of residents during air alerts.

«Thanks to this initiative, the shelters in the capital that need it the most will receive the necessary means for a more comfortable stay during air alerts. This is incredibly important as hostile attacks unfortunately continue, and with each new shelling, more residents seek refuge to save their lives. We are sincerely grateful to our international partners for their support — such acts of solidarity and humanity bring us closer to the larger European family,» said Valentyn Mondryiivskyi.

As emphasized by Sebastian Suyren, Counselor and Deputy Head of Mission at the French Embassy in Ukraine during the aid handover, collaboration and solidarity in supporting Ukrainians are essential at this time.
